Mohanlal goes the Rajini way!

The four-time National award winner, Mohanlal is one of the biggest stars in the Malayalam film industry. After starring in a few Tamil films including Maniratnam’s Iruvar, Mohanlal forayed into Bollywood with Ram Gopal Verma’s Company. And what more! He was awarded the Star Screen - Best supporting actor award for his performance in the movie.

Having been accepted among the Hindi audience, he is now all set to don a very important character in the upcoming Ram Gopal Ki Aag - a remake of the most successful film in Indian film industry, Sholay.

Stepping into his 27th year in the filmdom, Mohanlal seems to be toeing in line with Rajini. Yes, Mohanlal has also eyed the 3D animation industry and will soon grace the theatres in animated form. The venture will be made by Animation Dimensions, and its Creative Head, Prakash Nambiar, confirmed that Mohanlal has agreed to do the film. This multitalented actor would be lending his voice to his character in the animated version. Prakash Nambiar also divulged the fact that talks are on with a famous Bollywood personality to do another role in the movie but was not willing to part with the name of the star or any information on the project. It’s a welcome honor for this great artist who has always given his best in front of the camera.

Dashaavtaram case dismissed

Kamal can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The case of pliagarisation against the film has been dismissed. The judge has said that the film's story has no similarities with the story given by the plaintiff. Hence there is no case at all. The film has been in the centre of attention, either for the various getups of Kamal or for these kinds of controversies.

The film has Kamal playing ten different roles, along with Asin in a double role. Mallika Sherawat has done a special apparance in the film.
Dashaavtaram, directed by K.S. Ravikumar, has music by Himesh Reshamiyya.

SIMBU refuses to change the title KETTAVAN

Certain titles like POLLADAVAN, PORRUKI AND KETTAVAN came under the scanner of the public which amounted to slap on the wrist which made the Producer Guild to call on the makers of the film to change the titles. The producer of the film POLLADHAVAN swayed the Guild by stating that this title has already been used in Rajini’s film.

Shakti Chidambaram, the producer / director of ‘Porrikki’ has elegantly explained that Porrikki means one who picks out the ills of society. It is learnt that the association did not accept this clarification. So Shakti Chidambaram has decided to change the title of his film. On his part, Simbu has presented the elucidation that ‘Kettavan’ means one who has been spoilt because of a woman, and so did not condemn anyone in particular. So the film will retain its unusual title.

Shreya Reddy's selective roles

Shreya Reddy is concentrating on roles that are different, remarkable and give her scope to display her talents. She seems to be eager to earn awards and accolades for her onscreen portrayals.

In her current film Kanchipuram, she is donning the role of an ordinary housewife who gets battered by her drunkard husband. Shreya has given her best to the role. Her performance in Pallikoodam is also commendable.

Kanchipuram is the tale about the weavers' community, their lives, loves and losses.

Rajinikanth and his new FANS

Two leading politicians from the south spent over two hours with superstar Rajinikanth recently. Apart from complimenting the star on his latest smash hit, SIVAJI-THE BOSS, the pair cracked jokes on the never-ending conjecture about his “impending political debut” They reached interesting conclusions after the meeting.

One, unlike Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi, who will float his own party as and when he joins politics, Rajini will join one of the “established parties”. Two, the star has a definite soft corner for some of the leading lights of the Bharatiya Janatha Party. Three, the star is not sure how is fan clubs will react to the saffron tinge in his life, e reason why he has desisted from taking the plunge so far.

The King of STYLE Rajini's SIVAJI features in South Africa Top 10

The Sivaji success story moved to South Africa last weekend when the film opened in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town. While the response in Cape Town was disappointing, the Johannesburg and Durban venues ensured that it became the first Tamil film to feature in the South African box-office top 10. More impressive was that the cost-per-print for Sivaji placed it firmly at number one for the opening weekend.

A notable feature, particularly in Durban, is that the film is being seen by people from different linguistic groups and even different racial backgrounds. This is understandable since the story is relevant to what is happening in this country and contains a lesson for all South Africans. Rajnikanth's next film will be announced only after he returns from a vacation in the US .
